Definition Of A Hipster Biography

The hipster subculture typically consists of white millennials living in urban areas. The subculture has been described as a "mutating, trans-Atlantic melting pot of styles, tastes and behavior and is broadly associated with indie and alternative music, a varied non-mainstream fashion sensibility, generally progressive political views, organic and artisanal foods, and alternative lifestyles. Hipsters are typically described as affluent or middle class young Bohemians who reside in gentrifying neighborhoods.

The term in its current usage first appeared in the 1990s and became particularly prominent in the 2010s being derived from the term used to describe earlier movements in the 1940s Members of the subculture typically do not self-identify as hipsters, and the word hipster is often used as a pejorative to describe someone who is pretentious, overly trendy or effete. Some analysts contend that the notion of the contemporary hipster is actually a myth created by marketing Zoot-suited hipsters in the 1940s. Nevertheless, "hip" eventually acquired the common English suffix -ster  and "hipster" entered the language. The first dictionary to list the word is the short glossary "For Characters Who Don't Dig Jive Talk", which was included with Harry Gibson's 1944 album, Boogie Woogie In Blue. The entry for "hipsters" defined them as "characters who like hot jazz. It was not a complete glossary of jive, however, as it included only jive expressions that were found in the lyrics to his songs. The same year, Cab Calloway published The New Cab Calloway's Hepster's Dictionary of Jive, which had no listing for Hipster, and because there was also a 1939 edition of Calloway's Hepster's (an obvious play on "Webster's") Dictionary, it appears that "hepster" pre-dates "hipster". Initially, hipsters were usually middle-class white youths seeking to emulate the lifestyle of the largely black jazz musicians they followed

However, the subculture rapidly expanded, and after World War II, a burgeoning literary scene grew up around it. Jack Kerouac described 1940s hipsters as "rising and roaming America, bumming and hitchhiking everywhere  characters of a special spirituality". Toward the beginning of his poem Howl, Allen Ginsberg mentioned "angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night". In his essay "The White Negro", Norman Mailer characterized hipsters as American existentialists, living a life surrounded by deat annihilated by atomic war or strangled by social conformity and electing instead to "divorce  from society, to exist without roots, to set out on that uncharted journey into the rebellious imperatives of the self"As hipsters, "young creatives", priced out of Bohemian urban neighborhoods in Brooklyn such as Williamsburg, Park Slope, and Greenpoint moved into suburbs near New York City such as Hastings-on-Hudson The New York Times coined the neologism "Hipsturbia" to describe the hip lifestyle as lived in suburbia. Dobbs Ferry, Irvington and Tarrytown were also cited.

A minor trend of cross acculturation of Chabad Hasidism and Hipster subculture appeared within the New York Jewish community, beginning in the late 2000s. A significant number of members of the Chabad Hasidic community, mostly residing Crown Heights, Brooklyn, appear to now have adopted various cultural affinities as the local hipster subculture. These cross-acculturated Hasidim have been dubbed "Chabad hipsters" or "Hasidic hipsters."The Soho Synagogue, established by Chabad emissaries in SoHo, Manhattan, have branded themselves as a "hipster synagogue." The trend of Chabad Hasidic hipsters stands in contrast to the tensions experienced between the Satmar Hasidic community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the local hipster population.Rob Horning developed a critique of hipsterism in his April 2009 article "The Death of the Hipster" in PopMatters, exploring several possible definitions for the hipster. He muses that the hipster might be the "embodiment of postmodernism as a spent force, revealing what happens when pastiche and irony exhaust themselves as aesthetics", or might be "a kind of permanent cultural middleman in hypermediated late capitalism, selling out alternative sources of social power developed by outsider groups, just as the original 'white negros' evinced by Norman Mailer did to the original, pre-pejorative 'hipsters'blacks...".

Horning also proposed that the role of hipsters may be to "appropriat the new cultural capital forms, delivering them to mainstream media in a commercial form and stripping their inventors of the power and the glory".Horning argues that the "problem with hipsters" is the "way in which they reduce the particularity of anything you might be curious about or invested in into the same dreary common denominator of how 'cool' it is perceived to be", as "just another signifier of personal identity". Furthermore, he argues that the "hipster is defined by a lack of authenticity, by a sense of lateness to the scene" or the way that they transform the situation into a "self conscious scene, something others can scrutinize and exploit".

Hipster Kitty Biography

Source:- Google.com.pk

Move over Grumpy Cat, there’s a new feline in town. A mustachioed puss called Hamilton the Hipster Cat is the next big thing to come out.The black and white cat has an unmistakable curly white mustache and because of it has become the next big internet sensation.
Hamilton was abandoned in San Francisco and was up for adoption when local stand up comedian Jay Stowe fell in love with him at the Humane Society Silicon Valley.
No one wanted to adopt Hamilton, despite his impeccable ‘stache. Too skittish, they said.
But when his owner, Jay Stowe, locked eyes with the doe-eyed kitten at Humane Society Silicon Valley, it was pure destiny
Recent memes to come out of Hamilton the Hipster Cat are pictures that read: ‘He killed curiosity. He is the most interesting cat in the world’, and ‘He once rescued a fireman from a tree.He is the most interesting cat in the world.
Though his owner, a stand up comedian, is used to being in the spotlight, he’s stepped aside to let his pet able protege take center stage.
His owner Jay told SF Gat ‘I learned early on that I will never be able to compete with Ham’s mustache.
‘It’s just easier to let him be the debonair one in the house I started his Instagram because I had never seen a cat with a perfect mustache.’
The budding social media personality is the next big thing in the world of memes and naturally already has a Twitter and Facebook page.
And with an Urban Outfitters T shirt deal in the works, according to SF Gate, and a newly acquired manager, Hamilton may be soon set to replace Grumpy as the internet cat de jour.
On his Facebook it says: ‘Hamilton is a rescue kitty that was born on the 4th of July. He has a real mustache that is better than any mustache that has ever walked this planet.’
Hipster Kitty (a.k.a Hipster Cat) is an advice animal image macro series featuring a fashion-conscious kitten wearing a lavender hoodie and a pair of thick-framed glasses. The image macros are typically paired with tongue-in-cheek sayings to poke fun at the self-righteous lifestyles of vintage-loving, cheap beer sipping, Bukowski-quoting urban demographic. To a certain extent, Hipster Kitty can be seen as a self-parody phenomenon. The original acrylic painting “Allison” was created and uploaded via Flickr by Portland-based artist Craig Wheat in early 2009. The earliest captioned instance was posted via Brittnie’s Tumblr blog on August 24th, 2009; the caption read “well, it doesn’t matter who is better because Hipster Kitty will doubt EVERYONE’S indie cred.” Since its upload onto Tumblr, this image macro has been re blogged and liked hundreds of times on the microblogging network.

Ted Lucas founded the label in 1994 Slip-n-Slide signed local rapper Trick Daddy Dollars in its early years; he debuted in 1997 with the locally popular album Based on a True Story and broke into mainstream success the next year with www.thug.com having dropped "Dollars" from his stage name. Trick Daddy's second album included hit single "Nann Nigga", featuring the new rapper Trina. He released some more albums under Slip-n-Slide and scored another top hit in 2004 with "Let's Go" featuring Twista and Lil Jon. His last Slip-n-Slide album was Back By Thug Demand in 2006. In 2008, Trick Daddy left Slip-n-Slide for his own label Dunk Ryders Recordsz Other rappers signed to Slip-n-Slide include Trina, Rick Ross, and Plies.
Rick Ross signed to Slip-n-Slide in the early 2000s. During his early years under the label, he did guest performances on some releases; he released two albums under the label, Port of Miami in 2006 and Trilla in 2008. Ross left Slip-n-Slide in 2009.
On June 26, 2001, Renee Perkins of District Heights, Maryland sued Slip-n-Slide for failing to edit the expletive "dick" from Trick Daddy's Thugs Are Us album. Perkins bought the edited version of the album for her 11 year old son to play at a party. TVT Records was ordered in court to pay Slip-n-Slide $2.3 million in compensatory damages and $6.8 million in punitive damages for blocking the release of Welcome to the 305, an unreleased album that rapper Pitbull recorded with Slip-n-Slide before he signed to TVT.

Lucas started a division of Slip-n-Slide devoted to rock music and signed pop singer Qwote and R&B singer Shonie in 2008. In 2009, Slip-n-Slide signed Jagged Edge, an R&B group that had been previously signed to Def Jam. Previously, Slip-n-Slide focused on developing new artists from the South Florida area.A time slip is a paranormal phenomenon in which a person, or group of people, seem to either travel through time via unknown means, or appear to briefly enter an alternate version of present reality via unknown means. As with other paranormal phenomena, the objective reality of such experiences is disputed by skeptics. Some time slip witnesses report that, at the start of their experience of the phenomena, their immediate surroundings take on an oddly flat, underlit and lifeless appearance, and normal sounds seem muffled. This is sometimes accompanied by feelings of depression and unease. In some respects, this facet of the phenomenon is similar to the Oz Factor identified by British UFO researcher Jenny Randles in some reports of encounters with supposed extraterrestrial craft.Moberly's account of her experience at Versailles records.
